Chapter 2: What the Camera Remembered

Part 2 ⬇️
The videographer didn't move.
He just pointed at the screen.
Everyone in the ballroom turned to look.
The hand on the footage belonged to a woman in a pale blue dress.
She had reached behind Lily, slipped the ring into the fold of the child's sash, and walked away — all in under four seconds.
David recognized the dress before he recognized the face.
"That's your maid of honor," he said quietly.
The bride's expression didn't change the way it should have.
"The camera angle is bad," she said.
"You can't tell who that is."
"I can tell," said the videographer.
"I've been filming this family for six years."
Lily was still crying.
David pulled her close and looked at his bride — really looked at her — for the first time since the ring went missing.
"Did you know?" he asked.
She didn't answer.
That silence landed harder than any word could have.
Then someone near the back of the room stood up.
An older woman.
She opened her handbag and pulled out her phone.
"I have something you all need to see," she said.
"I recorded it before the ceremony."
The bride's face went white.
