Chapter 2: The Photograph on the Screen

Nathan walked to the DJ booth and asked for the microphone.
“Before we continue, everyone needs to see what really happened.”
The music stopped.
A moment later, the photograph appeared on the large screen behind the dance floor.
Every guest could see Isabella staring at my train, her heel raised above the lace—and that faint smile on her face.
Isabella turned white.
“Nathan, take that down!” she demanded.
“You said it was an accident,” he replied.
“So explain the picture.”
She glanced around as whispers spread through the room.
“That photograph proves nothing.
She’s always tried to turn you against me!”
I had just reached the doorway when I heard her.
My mom stood beside me, gripping my hand.
Nathan looked directly at Isabella.
“My wife defended you even after you humiliated her.
Don’t blame her for what you chose to do.”
Then the photographer stepped forward.
“There’s something else,” she said.
“This morning, someone emailed me from the bride’s address and asked me not to take candid photographs near the dance floor.”
“I never sent that,” I whispered.
Isabella’s face tightened.
Before Nathan could respond, the venue manager hurried over with his phone.
“She’s telling the truth,” he said.
“And that wasn’t the only message sent in your wife’s name.”
