Chapter 2: A Sound From Inside
Two security guards grabbed her by the arms and dragged her back.
She didn't fight them.
She just kept screaming at Alexander.
"You know what's in there!
You know!"
Alexander still didn't move.
Didn't speak.
His eyes were locked on the chest.
Victoria grabbed his arm.
"Alex.
Who is this woman?"
He opened his mouth.
Closed it again.
That silence told the room everything.
One of the wedding guests — an older man near the front — suddenly stood up.
His face had gone pale.
He stared at the woman in the orange uniform like he recognized her.
Like he was afraid of what she knew.
The woman saw him.
Her eyes went wide.
"Don't let them stop me," she begged.
"There's someone inside that chest.
Someone who is still alive."
The room erupted.
Victoria stepped back from Alexander.
"What is she talking about?" Her voice was barely a whisper.
"Alex.
What is she talking about?"
Alexander finally turned to face his bride.
And the look on his face was not the look of an innocent man.
Security began pulling the woman toward the exit.
She reached out toward the chest one last time — and that's when everyone heard it.
