The hallway went completely still.
Bennett's face drained of color.
His hand dropped.
Margot's fingers loosened from his arm.
The director — tall, silver-haired, with the kind of calm that only comes from real power — walked straight past Bennett and crouched down beside me.
"Tessa." His voice was low, steady.
"Can you stand?"
"I'm fine, Uncle Richard," I said quietly.
Those three words hit Bennett like a physical blow.
"Uncle—" He stopped.
Swallowed.
"You never told me your uncle was Richard Calloway."
"You never asked who my family was," I said.
"You only asked what my accounts were worth."
Margot stepped forward.
"This is ridiculous.
She's just—"
"You just physically pushed a woman who is eight months pregnant." Uncle Richard stood to his full height and looked at Margot the way a man looks at something he is deciding how to handle.
"In my hospital.
In front of my staff.
On camera."
Margot went pale.
Bennett reached for my arm.
"Tessa, let's talk somewhere private—"
"Don't touch her." Uncle Richard's voice didn't rise.
It didn't need to.
"Security is already reviewing the footage.
And my lawyers are already on the phone."
Bennett looked at me then — really looked at me — for the first time in months.
And I saw the exact moment he realized how badly he had miscalculated.
But what he didn't know yet was that the security footage wasn't the only thing Uncle Richard had been holding.
There was a file.
And it had Bennett's name on every page.
