Chapter 2: The Name She Tried to Erase

Part 2 ⬇️
Charlotte didn't scream.
She didn't cry.
She slowly pulled herself up from the marble floor, her scraped hands leaving faint marks on the stone.
She stood straight.
Quiet.
Steady.
The socialite — Vivienne Holt, the woman who had taken control of the Solmere board after Charlotte's mother d*ed — stepped closer and lowered her voice.
"You have no idea what you've walked into, do you?"
"I think I do," Charlotte said calmly.
Vivienne's eyes narrowed.
"Security.
Remove her.
Now."
Two guards moved forward.
That's when Charlotte reached into the front pocket of her plain jacket and pulled out a single folded document.
She didn't hand it to Vivienne.
She handed it to the head of security instead.
The guard's eyes moved across the page.
His face changed.
He looked up at Charlotte.
Then at Vivienne.
Then back at Charlotte.
He took one step back.
"Ma'am," he said quietly — but he wasn't speaking to Vivienne anymore.
Vivienne snatched the document from his hands.
Her face went white.
At the bottom of the page, in clear black ink, was a name she had spent two years trying to erase.
Charlotte Vale.
Sole Owner.
Solmere Holdings.
"That's…
that's not possible," Vivienne whispered.
Charlotte looked at her without blinking.
"You should have made sure I was really gone."

What Charlotte does next will leave Vivienne with nothing left to hide behind.
