Chapter 2: The Videos on the Phone

One of the officers stepped out of the back bedroom with a phone in his gloved hand.
He looked at Dad and said quietly:
"Sir…
you need to see this."
Dad handed his daughter to a neighbor who had rushed over, then followed the officer inside.
What he saw on that phone made his legs go weak.
Video after video.
Dozens of them.
Dated back almost two years.
His little girl.
The same chair.
The same tears.
And in every single video — Grandma laughing.
Mom smiling.
Dad's hands were shaking.
"Two years?" he whispered.
"This has been going on for two years?"
The officer nodded slowly.
"There's more, sir.
The videos were being sent to someone.
We're tracing the number now."
Dad turned and looked at his daughter through the doorway.
She had stopped crying.
She was sitting very still, staring at the floor.
Then the officer's radio crackled.
A name came through.
Dad recognized it immediately.
His face went pale.
It was someone he trusted completely.
Someone who had been in their home every single week.
Someone who should have protected her.
