Chapter 2: The Photograph She Was Never Supposed to See

Part 2 ⬇️
Victoria's composure cracked.
For one long second, she just stood there — cheek burning, eyes wide, the performance completely gone.
Then she straightened.
Victoria: You want to talk about what you saw?
Fine.
Let's talk about what I know.
Marcus didn't move.
Victoria: Ask your precious Elena why she was on the phone at two in the morning last Tuesday.
Ask her who she was whispering to.
Ask her why she had Leo's medical file hidden in her bag.
Elena's breath caught.
Her arms tightened around Leo.
Elena: That's not — I can explain that.
Marcus: Elena.
Look at me.
Elena met his eyes.
Something passed between them — not guilt, but fear.
A different kind.
Marcus turned back to Victoria, his voice dropping low.
Marcus: Where did you get that information?
Victoria smiled for the first time.
Slow.
Satisfied.
Victoria: You think you're the only one who watches what happens in this house?
She reached into her jacket pocket and placed a small folded photograph on the side table beside her.
Marcus stared at it.
His jaw tightened.
He didn't pick it up.
But he didn't look away either.
And Elena, still holding the crying baby against her chest, had gone completely still — because she already knew what was in that photograph.
---
