Chapter 2: Forty-Eight Hours

Part 2 ⬇️
I was watching through my curtains when Paul started screaming.
He was staring at his porch like he couldn't believe his own eyes.
I had spent the afternoon calling every sprinkler company in the area — and saved every single receipt and estimate.
The total damage Paul had caused?
$340.
So I had placed it all on his porch.
Every quote.
Every photo I'd taken that morning.
And one handwritten note on top:
*"This is what you owe me.
I have it all documented.
You have 48 hours."*
Paul snatched up the papers and stormed toward my door.
He pounded on it so hard my kids came running.
"You think this is funny?!
You're threatening ME?!"
I opened the door calmly and said:
"I'm not threatening you, Paul.
I'm giving you the chance to make it right before I take the next step."
He laughed in my face.
"Next step?
You're a single mom with two kids.
What exactly are you going to do?"
I didn't answer.
But behind me, my phone was already recording — and on the screen was a name I hadn't mentioned to Paul yet.
Someone who had been watching him for a long time.
Someone with a lot more power than either of us.
What Paul didn't know was about to cost him far more than $340.

What happens when Paul finds out who's been watching him?
