Chapter 1: The Day She Laughed at the Wrong Woman

My neighbor kept using my property for her party guests' cars, even after I politely asked her to stop — when she laughed and said, "What are you going to do, grandma?" I decided it was time to teach her a lesson.
I'd lived in my house for almost thirty years, and at sixty-eight, I had no intention of leaving.
It was quiet, comfortable, and after my husband passed away, taking care of the place gave me something to keep busy with.
Then Audrey moved in next door.
She was in her early thirties and friendly enough at first, but almost every weekend, she threw parties that lasted late into the night.
The music and shouting often kept me awake, and I tried several times to politely ask Audrey if she could keep things quieter.
She'd apologize, but nothing ever changed.
Then her guests started using my property for parking.
Once Audrey's driveway filled up, cars would block part of mine or pull onto my lawn.
They left deep tire marks in the grass, crushed flowers I'd spent years caring for, and woke me late at night when everyone finally drove away.
One Sunday morning, I stepped outside to find muddy tire tracks across my lawn and several flowers completely flattened.
One of Audrey's guests had even left a car blocking half my driveway overnight.
That was when I went next door.
"Audrey, please ask your guests not to park on my property."
She promised it wouldn't happen again.
The following weekend, there were three cars on my lawn.
I confronted her again, but this time, she just rolled her eyes.
"They're only here for a few hours.
It's not hurting anyone."
"It's hurting my property, Audrey.
I've asked you more than once."
She looked me up and down and laughed.
"What are you going to do, grandma?"
Before I could even respond, Audrey turned and walked back into her house.
I stood there for a moment, stunned.
The way she'd spoken to me hurt more than I wanted to admit, and for the rest of the day, I couldn't get her words out of my head.
Audrey clearly thought being sixty-eight meant I couldn't do anything about her, so I decided it was time to teach her a lesson.
