Chapter 2: The Woman at the Door

**— PART 2 —**
The woman in the doorway was tall, composed, and carrying a large covered dish.
She smiled at me first.
"You must be Nathan's wife.
He told me you were unwell.
I brought enough for everyone."
I had never seen her before in my life.
But Angela had.
"Get out of my son's house," Angela said, her voice shaking.
The woman didn't flinch.
"Hello, Angela.
It's been a long time."
"Nathan." Angela turned to him, eyes wide.
"Send her away.
Right now."
Nathan pulled out a chair at the kitchen table and gestured for the woman to sit.
"Mom, this is Margaret.
Dad's sister.
My aunt."
The room went completely still.
Angela's mouth opened.
Then closed.
"She has no business being here."
"She has every business being here," Nathan said quietly.
"She's family.
Which is exactly what you keep telling my wife she should respect."
Margaret set the dish on the table and looked at the kids.
"Are you two hungry?
I made pasta."
My daughter nodded immediately.
Angela grabbed her purse.
"If she stays, I leave."
Nathan nodded once.
"Okay, Mom."
Angela froze.
She had expected him to beg.
He didn't.
Then Margaret said something so quietly I almost missed it.
"Angela.
Does Nathan know what you did to his father's will?"
Angela's face went white.
---
What did Angela do to Nathan's father's will — and what has she been hiding all these years?
