That screaming didn't stop for a good ten minutes.
I stood in my kitchen, coffee in hand, listening to Diana lose her mind on the other side of that fence.
And I felt nothing but calm.
Here's what I told the HOA.
Diana had been running an illegal short-term rental out of her house — guests in and out every weekend, no permit, no HOA approval, no disclosure to the neighbors.
I had photos.
I had dates.
I even had screenshots of her listings.
The HOA sent her a formal notice that same evening.
But that wasn't the part that made her scream.
What made her scream was the FINE.
And the order to drain the pool.
Turns out, Diana had built that pool without ever filing for a proper permit with the city.
The HOA flagged it immediately.
Code enforcement was called.
She came POUNDING on my door that afternoon.
"You did this!
You vindictive little—"

"You stole from me for months.
Did you really think there would be no consequences?"
Her face went red.
"Harold will hear about this!"
I smiled.
"He already did."
She froze.
