Chapter 1: The Woman Who Didn't Stop Walking

Millionaire Took His Mistress to a Luxury Island—Then Saw His Pregnant Wife Signing Papers Beside America's Youngest Billionaire CEO

Ethan Calloway was kissing another woman when his seven-month-pregnant wife stepped into the hotel lobby.

His hand was still resting on Vanessa Reed's bare waist when Grace looked directly at him from twenty feet away.

But Grace didn't scream.

She didn't cry.

She didn't even stop walking.

And somehow, that terrified Ethan more than anything she could have done.

The lobby of the Halcyon Crown Resort glittered beneath three-story windows overlooking the Atlantic.

White marble floors.

Champagne-gold chandeliers.

Palm trees bending in the wind beyond the glass.

A string quartet playing near the terrace.

It was the kind of place where people paid twelve thousand dollars a night to pretend the rest of the world did not exist.

Ethan had chosen it for exactly that reason.

For four days, he had ignored calls from his office, told Grace he was attending a private investor conference in New York, and disappeared into a beachfront villa with Vanessa, his company's thirty-two-year-old vice president of communications.

He had expected privacy.

He had expected room service.

He had expected Vanessa in the red silk dress she was wearing now.

He had not expected his wife.

And he definitely had not expected the man walking beside her.

Declan Pierce.

Founder and CEO of Pierce Global Holdings.

Thirty-nine years old.

Estimated net worth: $11.4 billion.

One of the most aggressive corporate buyers in America.

The man who had once acquired a failing logistics empire on a Thursday and removed its entire executive leadership before Monday morning.

Declan wore a navy suit without a tie.

No security detail was visible, but Ethan knew men like Pierce never traveled without one.

Grace walked beside him in a dark emerald maternity dress beneath a cream coat.

Her golden-blonde hair fell in loose waves over one shoulder.

One hand rested beneath the curve of her stomach.

The other held a slim black leather folder.

She looked composed.

Almost peaceful.

As though finding her husband wrapped around his mistress in a luxury resort lobby was merely an inconvenient piece of weather.

Vanessa moved first.

Her hand pulled away from Ethan.

"Oh, my God."

Ethan barely heard her.

Grace's eyes met his.

He searched her face for devastation.

There was none.

Anger?

Nothing.

Humiliation?

Not even that.

Then Grace turned slightly toward Declan.

"We have six minutes."

Declan checked his watch.

"Five forty-eight."

Grace nodded.

"Then we shouldn't keep them waiting."

She walked past Ethan.

Just walked past him.

No accusation.

No sl*p.

No question.

Her perfume reached him for half a second.

Then she was gone.

Ethan turned.

"Grace."

She kept walking.

"Grace."

Nothing.

His voice sharpened.

"Grace!"

She stopped beside the elevators.

Declan stopped with her.

Vanessa stayed three steps behind Ethan, suddenly pale.

Grace turned slowly.

Ethan crossed the lobby.

"What are you doing here?"

Grace glanced once at Vanessa.
