Chapter 2: The Note Inside the Box

**— PART 2 —**
Inside the box was a handwritten note.
Every passenger nearby leaned in to look.
The woman's face had gone from smug to red in seconds.
The note read:
*"This seat was reserved for a little girl named Emma.
You chose not to give it to her.
We hope this gift reminds you that kindness costs nothing."*
Tucked beneath the note was a single children's drawing — a crayon sky, a small plane, and a little girl waving from the window.
Emma had drawn it at the gate.
I had no idea the flight attendant had taken it.
The woman crumpled the note and hissed at the attendant:
"This is humiliating.
I want to speak to someone in charge right now."
The attendant smiled calmly and said:
"The captain is already aware, ma'am."
Then the intercom clicked on again.
The pilot's voice was quiet and steady:
"Ladies and gentlemen, I'd also like to dedicate this flight to a brave little girl named Emma, flying for the very first time.
Emma — the sky is yours today."
The whole cabin started to clap.
I looked over at Emma.
She had pressed both hands to the small oval window beside her — because a passenger across the aisle had quietly offered her his seat without saying a word.
But the woman in 7A wasn't finished.
She stood up.
---
What she said next left the entire cabin silent.
