Chapter 2: The Name She Never Said

Part 2 ⬇️
The doors opened before anyone could move.
Forty men in black walked in first.
Silent.
Shoulders wide.
Eyes scanning every face in the room.
The string quartet stopped mid-note.
Champagne glasses froze halfway to lips.
Then he walked in.
Tall.
Dark suit.
A tattoo climbing the left side of his neck.
His eyes swept the atrium once — and stopped.
Elena was still on the floor.
The man's jaw tightened.
Something shifted in his face.
Not shock.
Something colder than shock.
"Little sister."
His voice was quiet.
That was the worst part.
It wasn't a shout.
It was the kind of quiet that makes a room hold its breath.
Julian spun around.
His face had gone the color of old ash.
"Mr.
Rakov — this isn't — she just lost her balance —"
"She lost her balance." The man — Rakov — repeated the words slowly, like he was tasting something rotten.
He didn't look at Julian.
He was already walking toward Elena, his men parting the crowd without touching a single person.
He crouched down beside her.
His hand — the same hand that had signed the papers that owned half of Dallas — touched her face gently.
"Who did this to you?"
Elena's lips trembled.
She already knew.
If she said his name, Julian's family wouldn't just lose their money.
They would lose everything.
