Chapter 2: The Envelope at the Desk

"Marco."
The name left my mouth before I could stop it.
Alessandro went very still.
"Say that again."
"Marco," I whispered.
"Your head of security.
He told me on my first day.
He said if you ever found out I had a child, I'd be gone before sunset.

The doorman's face was pale.
He was holding an envelope.
"Sir," Raymond said quietly.
"I think you need to see this.
It was left at the desk this morning.
It has Elena's name on it."
Alessandro looked at the envelope.
Then he looked at me.
"Did you know about this?"
I had never seen that envelope before in my life.
---
What's inside that envelope — and how deep does Marco's crjme go?
The full truth is darker than Elena ever imagined.
