Chapter 2: His Eyes Never Left the Laptop

Part 2 ⬇️
The footage was from the ICU hallway.
The timestamp showed the same afternoon Grace was moved there — the afternoon I was told to wait outside.
And my husband…
was already inside.
He was standing near the nurses' station, talking to a doctor I had never seen before.
Not our doctor.
Someone else.
They were speaking quietly, but the camera had picked up enough.
My husband slid something across the counter.
An envelope.
The doctor looked down at it, then back up.
He gave one slow nod.
Twenty minutes later, the doctor walked into Grace's room.
I watched the screen with my hands shaking so badly I could barely hold the laptop.
Then I heard footsteps behind me.
I slammed the laptop shut.
My husband was standing in the doorway, staring at me.
"What are you doing in here?" he asked.
His voice was calm.
Too calm.
"I was just…
looking at her things," I whispered.
He didn't move.
He just kept staring at the closed laptop on the bed.
Then he said something that turned my bl0od cold.
"You should get some sleep.
You've been through enough."
He said it softly.
Almost gently.
But his eyes never left that laptop.
---
What was in that envelope?
What did that doctor do to Grace?
The full truth is darker than anything I expected — and it's all in the footage.
