Chapter 1: The Mark He Remembered in His Dreams

The grand dining room of the estate was filled with the soft clinking of crystal glasses and polite conversation.
But the peaceful dinner was shattered in an instant when Eli, a young boy with curly hair, suddenly froze in his seat.
His eyes widened in shock as a memory, long buried in his subconscious, rushed back to him.
"I had that mark in my dreams!" Eli blurted out, his voice cutting through the room's chatter.
Before his family could stop him, Eli scrambled out of his chair and ran straight toward the private chef, Sam, who was standing near the kitchen entrance.
With trembling hands, the boy grabbed the chef's arm and pulled back his white sleeve, revealing a long, jagged scar running down his forearm.
Sam gasped.
His professional composure crumbled, and tears welled up in his eyes.
"Who are you?" Sam whispered, his voice cracking with emotion.
Eli looked up into the chef's tear-filled eyes.
"The boy from the fire," he replied softly.
At the head of the table, the family's wealthy matriarch stood up abruptly, her face tightening with anger.
"That chef has no business touching our family!" she demanded, trying to put an end to the scene.
But the truth was already unfolding.
Lila, the auburn-haired woman at the table, sat in stunned silence.
Acting on a sudden, heavy suspicion, she opened her clutch and drew out a folder.
From inside, she pulled an old, folded photograph.
She unfolded the paper to reveal a younger Sam, wearing his chef's coat, tenderly cradling a newborn baby in a hospital bed.
The sight of the photograph broke Sam completely.
Tears streamed down his face as he looked at the family who had raised the boy.
"You said my son d!ed in surgery," Sam choked out, his voice trembling with a mixture of grief and betrayal.
Lila stared at the photograph, her face turning pale as she realized the depth of the deception.
Looking from the chef to her family, she whispered in horror, "What did this club cover up?"
The decades-old secret was finally out.
The boy they had raised was not an orphan — he was the son of the chef standing right in front of them, taken away under the cover of a tragic lie.
