Chapter 2: What She Said She Was Hiding
Adrian couldn't move.
He stood in the middle of the room staring at the screen, his hands shaking, Emma still pressed against his chest.
"Clara…"
But Clara had already turned away.
Vanessa took one step back.
Then another.
"That video doesn't show everything," she said.
"You don't understand what really happened."
Olivia's voice was quiet and cold.
"It shows enough, Vanessa."
Adrian looked at the red mark on Clara's face.
The one he had put there.
He reached out.
"Clara, I'm so—"
"Don't." Clara's voice didn't break.
It was steady.
Tired.
Like she had been waiting for this moment for a long time.
Then Vanessa did something no one expected.
She pulled out her own phone and held it up.
"You want to talk about the truth?" Her eyes were wet but her voice had changed.
Sharp.
Dangerous.
"Then let's talk about what Clara did six months ago.
Let's talk about what she's been hiding from all of you."
The room went completely still.
Olivia froze.
Adrian stared.
And Clara's face went pale.
