Chapter 2: The Camera Never Looked Away

Elena lowered the phone, but her hands were trembling.

Victoria folded her arms.

“Your family cannot protect you from the truth.”

Julian moved closer to Elena.

“Please don’t make this worse.”

“Worse?” Elena stared at him.

“You let them search my gown in front of everyone, and you still haven’t asked Victoria to prove a single word.”

The front door suddenly opened.

Elena’s father entered with a woman carrying a sealed folder and the house security manager holding a tablet.

Victoria’s confident smile vanished.

“Why are they here?”

Father looked directly at Julian.

“Because Elena called me ten minutes before the necklace disappeared.”

Julian went pale.

“That doesn’t make sense.”

“It will,” the security manager said.

“The camera outside Victoria’s study recorded someone entering with an empty pocket—and leaving with something hidden inside it.”

Victoria reached for the tablet.

“Turn that off!”

Father stepped between them.

“No.

Everyone will watch.”

The security manager pressed play.

Elena leaned closer as a familiar figure appeared on the screen.

Then Julian whispered, “Elena, I can explain.”
