Chapter 2: The Name on the Screen

Part 2 ⬇️

Victoria didn't cry.

She didn't beg.

She laughed.

It was a small sound.

Almost quiet.

But in that hallway, with Thomas still shaking against his father's chest, it was the ugliest thing I had ever heard.

"You want the truth, Mark?" she said.

"Fine.

Thomas isn't the problem.

He has never been the problem."

Mark went very still.

"Then what is?" he asked.

Victoria's eyes moved to me.

"She is." Her voice was smooth now.

Controlled.

"Your devoted little Elena.

Ask her how long she's been recording this house.

Ask her what she's been sending — and to who."

The air left my lungs.

Mark turned to look at me.

"Elena."

"That's not—" I started.

"There's a folder," Victoria said.

"On her phone.

Months of it.

Every argument.

Every private moment." She smiled.

"She's been building a case, Mark.

Not to protect Thomas.

To take him."

Thomas made a small sound against his father's neck.

Mark's expression was unreadable.

"Is that true?" he asked me.

I opened my mouth.

And then my phone lit up on the hallway table.

We all saw the name on the screen.

Mark's face changed completely.
