Clara's fingers went to the locket instinctively, closing around it.
"It was my mother's," she said.
"She gave it to me before she passed."
Vincent didn't move.
His eyes stayed fixed on the small silver disc in her hand.
"What was your mother's name?"
Clara hesitated.

A young woman holding a baby.
On the back, in faded ink, two words.
*Find him.*
Vincent stood slowly.
His jaw was tight.
His hands were steady in the way that meant something was being held down by force.
"How old are you?" he asked Clara.
"Twenty-three."
He closed his eyes for exactly one second.
When he opened them, he looked at Vivian.
"Cancel the party."
"What?" Vivian's voice cracked.
"Vincent, you cannot be serious—"
"Cancel it.
Now."
What Vincent found inside that locket changes everything — and Vivian's reaction is worse than anyone expected.
