I stood in Dad's bedroom holding the blue tie, and something cold moved through me.

I didn't tell Mark that night.
The next morning I sat across from Samuel in a quiet office with a single folder on the desk between us.
He slid it toward me without a word.
The first page was a letter in my father's handwriting.
