Chapter 1: My Father's Last Gift
The tattooed biker ripped an heirloom wedding gown away from the bride before she could reach the altar, and two hundred guests thought they were witnessing a deliberate attack.
Claire screamed.
Her groom struck Hammer as several men forced him back against a pew.
Phones went up while someone called the police.
Hammer did not fight back.
He kept gripping the torn train, covered it beneath his leather vest, and told everyone to look down at the floor.
A strange crackling sound came from underneath the leather.
Only then did Claire feel the heat against her calf and notice the candle stand directly behind her.
The gown had already been at risk before Hammer ever touched it — but the memorial ribbon concealed inside his vest would reveal why her late father had made sure he was seated in the final pew.
