Grant called eleven times before 10:15.
I didn't answer once.
My attorney, Daniel, set the three cases on the conference table and looked at me.
"You're sure?"
"I've been sure since the prenup was signed."
The documents were already organized.
Altered safety inspection reports dated back six years.
Overseas wire transfers to shell companies.
Seventeen buried complaints from warehouse employees.
And one internal memo — signed by Grant's father — instructing staff to "manage" a refrigeration failure that had sent contaminated product to four states.
People had gotten sick.
The company had paid quietly to make it disappear.
At 10:03, I pressed send.
The recipients were the FDA, the New York State Attorney General's office, and two investigative journalists who had been circling Whitmore Medical Systems for years without enough to act.
Now they had everything.
My phone rang again.
This time it wasn't Grant.
It was Meredith.
I answered.
Her voice was completely different from the woman at the breakfast table.
The satisfaction was gone.
What replaced it was something I hadn't expected.

There are things about your father's shares you don't understand yet.
Things Grant was never supposed to tell you."
I went very still.
"What things?"
The line was silent for three full seconds.
Then she said a name I had never heard before.
