Margaret stood alone in the aisle.
Two hundred guests watched her.
Nobody moved to comfort her.
Nobody spoke.

A woman caught.
We found the motel twenty minutes later.

Room 14.
Ground floor.
Curtains drawn.
Ethan knocked.
No answer.
He knocked again.
"Lena.
It's Ethan."
Silence.
Noah pulled a key from his shoe and unlocked the door himself.
The room was dim and very still.
A woman lay on the bed.
Dark hair spread across the pillow.

Then she whispered, "She told me you were g0ne."
Ethan sat on the edge of the bed.
His voice broke completely.
"I know."
I stood in the doorway holding Noah's hand.
Then my eyes moved to the prescription bottle.
And I saw the name printed on the label.
It wasn't Lena's name.
It was Margaret's.
---
What was Margaret's medication doing in that room — and what did she do to Lena all those years ago?
