Chapter 2: The Document With Two Signatures

Nathan didn't move.
He didn't speak.
He just stared at Lily's face — and felt something crack open inside his chest.
She had his eyes.
He had never noticed before.
He had never let himself look.
"Nathan, listen to me." Victoria stepped forward, her voice suddenly smooth.
"This woman is unstable.
She's been lying to you.
To both of us."
"Don't." His voice came out low and quiet.
"Don't say another word."
He crossed the kitchen and knelt down beside Grace.
Up close, he could see the bruise already darkening across her shoulder.
Lily pressed her small face into his jacket without hesitation — like she already knew him.
"How long?" he asked Grace.
"How long have you known?"
Grace looked at him with exhausted eyes.
"Since before she was born."
Victoria let out a sharp laugh.
"She's a maid, Nathan.
A liar.
She came here on purpose — she planned all of this."
Nathan stood slowly.
"You raised a hockey stick over a four-year-old girl."
The room went completely silent.
Then his phone buzzed.
A message from an unknown number.
One photo.
No caption.
It was a document.
Signed.
Dated five years ago.

His father's signature was at the bottom — and so was Victoria's father's.
Nathan's hand went cold.
