Chapter 2: The Message Nobody Was Supposed to Send

Part 2 ⬇️
The reception hall went dead silent.
The bride — still standing at the cake table, frosting on her hands — looked around at the guests.
Some turned away.
Others whispered behind their hands.
Nobody moved to comfort her.
Her mother rushed to her side.
"What did you do?" she hissed.
"She ruined everything," the bride snapped.
"That child has been trying to sabotage this wedding from the start."
"She is six years old."
Outside, the groom sat on the front steps of the venue, his daughter pressed against his chest.
Her little shoulders were still shaking.
"Daddy…
does she hate me?"
He pulled her tighter.
"No one is ever going to treat you like that again.
I promise."
His phone buzzed in his pocket.
He ignored it.
It buzzed again.
Then again.
He finally looked down.
Twelve missed calls — all from a number he didn't recognize.
Then a text came through.
*"I know what she did to your daughter today.
But that's not the worst thing she's been hiding from you.
Call me.
You need to see this before you make any decisions."*
He stared at the screen.
His hands went still.
