Chapter 2: Tell Him Your Real Name

Part 2 ⬇️
Julian didn't move.
He just stared at Victoria.
"How does she know that song?"
Victoria's mouth opened.
Nothing came out.
"It was Elena's song," Julian said quietly.
"Written for the boys before they were born.
No one else knew it.
No one."
"Julian, I—"
"How.
Does.
She.
Know.
It."
The maid hadn't moved.
She stood with both boys still pressed against her, her eyes down, her hands trembling slightly at her sides.
Julian stepped toward her.
"Look at me," he said.
She raised her face slowly.
And Julian felt the floor shift beneath him.
He had seen those eyes before.
In photographs.
In his memory.
In four years of grief he had never fully survived.
"What is your name?" he whispered.
She opened her mouth.
Victoria moved fast.
"Don't.
Don't you dare say a word."
Julian spun toward his wife.
"What did you do?"
Victoria's composure cracked completely.
"I protected this family.
I protected you.
She was going to destroy everything we built—"
"What did you do to her, Victoria?"
Leo tugged the maid's apron and looked up at her with complete certainty.
"Tell him your real name, Mommy."
The room went absolutely silent.
Victoria took one step backward toward the door.
