Six days after a difficult emergency delivery, Clara Carter was found unconscious beside her newborn son's bassinet while her mother-in-law calmly ate dinner nearby.
Instead of reacting with concern, Evelyn dismissed the exhausted new mother as lazy because she had failed to finish serving the meal.
Daniel immediately picked up Noah and checked on his wife.
Then desperate pounding came from behind a locked service door.
When Daniel opened it, Marissa—the trusted housekeeper—rushed forward and warned that he could not imagine what Evelyn had done.
