Chapter 2: The Video on Grandma's Phone

Dad carried his daughter inside and sat her on the bathroom floor.
He grabbed a clean towel and wrapped it around her small shoulders.
She was still shaking.
"Does she do this a lot?" he asked quietly.
The little girl nodded.
"Every time you leave, Daddy."
Dad didn't say another word.
He just held her tighter.
But then Grandma walked in through the back door.
She still had her phone in her hand.
She looked at Dad and said:
"You're overreacting.
It was just water.
She's being dramatic."
Dad stood up slowly.
"You were recording it," he said.
"And laughing."
Grandma didn't flinch.
"Someone has to keep that child in line.
Her mother can't do it alone."
Dad's jaw tightened.
"How long has this been going on?"
Grandma went quiet.
That silence said everything.
Then his daughter tugged his sleeve.
"Daddy…
there's a video.
From last week.
Grandma still has it on her phone."
Dad looked at Grandma.
Grandma's hand tightened around the phone.
She slowly started to back toward the door.
