Chapter 3: The Message from the Dark

Dr.

Alvarez didn't flinch.

He simply nodded, like he had been waiting for that word for a long time.

He reached into his coat pocket and placed a small white card on the tray beside me.

"There's a social worker in this building tonight.

Her name is Patricia.

Dr.

Alvarez stepped forward and closed the door.

Then my phone lit up on the tray beside me.

A text.

From a number I didn't recognize.

*Nora.

I know what they did.

I have proof.

Please don't let them silence you again.*

I looked at Dr.

Alvarez.

He hadn't seen it.

My thumb hovered over the screen.

What Nora found out next — and who that message was really from — changes everything.
