Chapter 2: The Signature He Never Thought Would Cost Him Everything

"The owner asked me to remind you of Section 14, Paragraph C of your lease agreement.
The clause you signed four years ago.
The one that states any act of harassment, intimidation, or forced removal of a family member from the property constitutes immediate grounds for termination."
Richard's face went pale.
"What family member?
Who—"
"The owner's daughter," David said.
"And her son."
The silence that followed was the loudest thing I had ever heard through a camera speaker.
Patricia set her wine glass down so hard it nearly broke.
Natalie turned toward Terrence.
He took one slow step backward.
Richard's voice dropped to almost nothing.
"Nicole…
owns this house?"
David didn't answer.
He simply turned to the second page in the folder.
There was a 30-day vacate notice.
Richard's own signature was already on the original agreement.
All David needed now was a witness and a timestamp.
One of the deputies stepped forward.
Natalie grabbed her husband's arm.
"Terrence.
Terrence, say something."
But Terrence was already looking at the door.
