Cameron laughed.
It was the wrong choice.
"Relax." He spread his hands like a man explaining something simple.
"This isn't what it looks like.
She's unstable.
Ask anyone who knows her."
No one in the VIP section moved.
The stranger didn't look at Cameron when he spoke.
He looked at Nora.
"Has he said that before?"
Nora's throat tightened.
"Every time."
The stranger nodded once.
Then he finally turned to Cameron.
His voice was completely calm.
"She said no.
That's the end of it."
Cameron's jaw tightened.
Something shifted behind his eyes — the version of him Nora knew from closed doors and quiet rooms.
The one no one else ever saw.
"You don't know what she's like," Cameron said.
"You don't know anything about her."
"I know she flinched when she heard your voice."
The room went very still.
Cameron stepped forward.
"I'm not leaving without—"
One of the guards placed a single hand on Cameron's chest.
Not hard.
Just final.
Cameron looked down at that hand.
Then back up at the stranger.
For a long moment, no one breathed.
Then Cameron reached into his jacket.
