Chapter 2: The Neighbor Who Kept Filming

I stood in my driveway staring at my gray house for a long time.

Gray.

They had turned my beautiful yellow home into a gray box, like they were trying to erase me.

My hands were shaking, but my mind was completely clear.

I called a lawyer that same evening.

She listened to everything and said, "They paid for the work order, which means they authorized an unauthorized alteration to your property.

That's not legal.

That's trespassing and property interference."

I asked her what I could do.

She said, "Quite a lot, actually."

The next morning, I knocked on my neighbor from across the street and asked him to send me every photo and video he had taken.

He handed over everything — timestamps included.

Then he said something that stopped me cold.

"There's one more thing you should know.

The wife came over to my door the day before the painters arrived.

She asked me not to say anything to you when you got back."

I stared at him.

"She asked you to cover for them?"

He nodded.

"I told her no.

And I kept filming."

I had everything I needed.

The photos.

The timestamps.

A witness.

And a lawyer who was already drafting the paperwork.

They thought painting over my house would be the end of it.

It was only the beginning.
