Chapter 2: What Rosa Knew

Part 2 ⬇️

Inside the villa, I sat Isabella at the kitchen table and called our housekeeper, Rosa.

Rosa had worked for me for eleven years.

She arrived in under two minutes.

One look at Isabella's hands and her eyes filled with tears.

"How long?" I asked quietly.

Rosa didn't answer immediately.

She looked toward the hallway.

"I heard everything you said on the terrace."

Her face went still.

"Every word, Beatriz."

She stared at the phone.

Then at me.

"That's not—"

"I also spoke to my lawyer this morning from the car."

Something shifted behind her eyes.

Not guilt.

Calculation.

Then she said something I was not prepared for.

"You should ask Rosa whose idea it really was."

What did Beatriz mean by that?

And what has Rosa been hiding all this time?

The full truth is darker than anyone expected.
