Chapter 2: The Woman With His Eyes

Part 2 ⬇️
The woman in the doorway looked just as shocked as I was.
She was older — maybe seventy — with white hair and Frank's same dark eyes.
Frank's eyes.
"You came," she whispered.
"I wasn't sure he'd ever tell you."
My legs nearly gave out.
"Who are you?"
She stepped back to let me in.
On the wall behind her hung a row of framed photographs.
I walked closer.
And stopped breathing.
Every single photo showed Frank — younger, smiling — with this woman.
And with a little girl.
A little girl I recognized.
Because it was me.
"How do you have these?" My voice came out wrong.
"How do you know me?"
The woman's hands were shaking as she reached for something on the side table — an old envelope, yellowed at the edges, with my name written on the front in handwriting I didn't recognize.
"Frank made me promise never to give you this," she said.
"But he called me this morning.
He said it was time."
I reached for the envelope.
She pulled it back — just slightly.
"Before you open that," she said quietly, "I need you to understand something.
What's inside will change how you see everything.
Your mother.
Frank.
And yourself."
Her voice dropped to almost nothing.
"You weren't born who you think you were."

What's inside that envelope — and who is this woman to Frank?

The truth is more heartbreaking than anyone expected.
