The room didn't make a sound.
Logan walked to the DJ booth himself.
He took the USB drive, plugged it into the laptop, and opened the second file.
His jaw tightened.
"What is this, Rachel?"
Rachel's voice came out thin and sharp.
"That child went through private property.
Whatever she found, it doesn'tβ"
"It has Valerie's signature on it." Logan's voice was quiet.
Dangerously quiet.
"Except Valerie didn't sign it.
Did she."
It wasn't a question.
My mother stepped forward.
"Logan, sweetheart, let's not do this here.
Not tonight."
"Then when, Theresa?" He turned the laptop screen toward the room.
"Because this document transfers Valerie's share of the family property.
Signed over two years ago.
Before the divorce.
Before she had nothing."
I felt the floor shift beneath me.
I had never signed anything.
Rachel grabbed my mother's wrist.
Something passed between them β one look, fast and desperate.
Then a man near the back of the room stood up slowly.
Logan's father.
"Son," he said.
"I think you need to see what's in the folder.
All of it."
Rachel spun toward him.
"You stay out of thisβ"
"I've been quiet long enough." He reached into his jacket.
"I have the original document.
The one with the real date on it."

What Logan's father revealed next left the entire room in shock β and Rachel with nowhere left to run.
