Marcus didn't wait for an answer.

He walked straight to the nurses' station and came back two minutes later with the head of hospital security.

Isabella hadn't moved.

She was still staring at that blinking red light like it was the only thing in the room.

"Pull the footage," Marcus said.

"Everything from the last hour."

The security officer nodded and reached for his radio.

Smoothed her dress.

And looked at him with eyes I had never seen before.

I had been on the floor.

Barely conscious.

Protecting my baby.

But Isabella was smiling now.

Small.

Certain.

Like she had been waiting for this moment all along.

And I realized — she hadn't panicked when she saw the camera.

She had remembered something.

Something she knew was already on that recording.

Something she could use.

---

What did Isabella put on that recording — and why does she think it protects her?
