Chapter 2: The Secret in the Folder

Part 2 ⬇️

Richard didn't speak for a long moment.

He just stared at me — at the folder, at the MRI, at the dress — like he was trying to convince himself I wasn't real.

Then his jaw tightened.

"You think this changes anything?" he said quietly.

"You think a few papers scare me?"

"They already did," I said.

"Your accounts were frozen at nine this morning."

Sienna grabbed his arm.

"Richard — what is she talking about?

What accounts?"

He shook her off.

"This is MY house," he said, his voice rising.

"MY companies.

You were supposed to be d\*ing.

You were supposed to be GONE."

"I know," I said.

"That's what made it so easy."

He lunged toward me — but the front door opened before he could take another step.

Two men in suits walked in behind my lawyer.

Richard froze.

"Richard Calloway," one of them said, "we have a warrant for your arrest on charges of financial fraud and domestic ab\*se."

Sienna made a sound I had never heard from her before.

Not a laugh.

Not a sneer.

A cry.

She turned to Richard, her hand pressed to her stomach.

"You told me she had nothing," she whispered.

"You told me everything was already ours."

Richard said nothing.

Because there was nothing left to say.

But as they led him toward the door, he stopped — and looked back at me with an expression I hadn't expected.

Not anger.

Fear.

"You don't know what you've started," he said.
