I didn't sleep that night.
I sat at my desk until 4 a.m., and I made three phone calls.
The first was to my attorney, Diane.
She had been waiting for this call for weeks.
"Is it time?" she asked.
"It's time," I said.
The second call was to my general manager, Rosa.
I told her to pull every financial record from all three salons going back four years.
Every contract.
Every tax filing.
Every payroll document.
The third call was to a number I had saved but never used.
A private investigator named Marcus, who had spent the last six weeks quietly documenting Julian's movements.
"I have everything you need," Marcus said.
"Photos.
Dates.
Locations.
And one more thing you didn't ask for — but you're going to want to see it."
I went still.
"What is it?"
"Julian didn't just bring Vanessa into your home, Elena.
He signed something.
Two months ago.
Using your address."
My hand tightened around the phone.
"What did he sign?"
Marcus paused.
"I think you need to see the document in person."
Downstairs, I could still hear them laughing.
