Chapter 2: The Name I Didn't Recognize

The notification was a comment on my photo.
From a name I didn't recognize.
*"Beautiful family.
Does she know you were with me at that same resort?"*
I read it twice.
Then I read it again.
My hands went cold.
Andrew reached across the table.
"Let me explain—"
I pulled my phone back.
"Who is she?"
"It's not what it looks like."
"Andrew." My voice came out quieter than I expected.
"Who.
Is.
She."
Nicole was standing against the wall, arms crossed, eyes wet.
"I saw them," she said.
"That night you went back to the room early.
I forgot my keycard.
I saw him in the hallway."
I turned to Andrew.
He said nothing.
"You brought her on our family vacation?"
"It wasn't like that."
"Then what was it like?"
His mother put her hand over her mouth.
Nicole's voice cracked.
"I didn't know how to tell you, Mom.
I didn't know what to do."
I looked at the comment again.
There was a photo attached.
I opened it.
And that's when Andrew stood up and said the one thing that made Nicole go completely still.
