Chapter 2: What She Whispered

**— Part 2 —**
The little girl didn't cry.
She just went quiet.
That silence hit her father harder than any tears could have.
He stood up slowly, looked straight at his mother, and said, "Mom.
What did you just do?"
His mother waved her hand like it was nothing.
"Oh, stop overreacting.
Boys and girls sit differently, that's all.
It's tradition."
"Tradition?" His voice dropped.
"She's six years old.
She saw everything."
His mother turned back to the table.
"The food is getting cold."
That was it.
No apology.
No explanation.
Just — move on.
But then the little girl tugged her father's sleeve and whispered something in his ear.
His face changed completely.
He looked at his mother.
Then at his son.
Then back at his mother.
"She says this isn't the first time," he said quietly.
"She says every time you babysit, you tell her to wait in the other room while her brother sits with you."
The table went completely still.
His wife slowly set down her fork.
His mother opened her mouth — then closed it again.
And that's when the father pulled out his phone and said, "I think it's time we all watched something together."
---
What was on that phone changed everything — and no one at that table was ready for it.
