Adrian's hands shook as Olivia held the phone up to his face.
He watched it once.
Then again.
The video was clear.
Vanessa's hands on Lily's back.
The shove.
The scream.
James running.
James catching her.
"Play it again," Adrian said quietly.
Olivia played it again.
The garden went completely silent.
Vanessa stopped fake-crying.
Her face changed.
Just for a second.
But Adrian saw it.
"That's not what happened," Vanessa said.
"The angle is wrong.
She slipped and James—"
"Stop talking." Adrian's voice was low.
Controlled.
Dangerous.
Lily was still trembling against James's side.
The old driver hadn't moved.
He stood there with his hands at his sides, waiting.
Adrian looked at him.

I'm sorry."
James nodded once.
Said nothing.
Then Adrian turned back to Vanessa.
"How long?" he asked.
Vanessa blinked.

"How long have you been doing things like this when I wasn't watching?"
Vanessa opened her mouth.
Closed it.
Then someone else spoke from the doorway behind them.
It was Mrs.
Chen.
The housekeeper.
She had worked in that house for eleven years.
"Mr.
Adrian," she said carefully.
"This was not the first time."
Vanessa spun around.
Her face went pale.
"You need to stay out of this," Vanessa snapped.
But Mrs.
Chen didn't move.
She looked only at Adrian.
"There is something you need to see.
Inside.
In the study."
