Chapter 2: The Document That Fell
Eleanor screamed as the security officers took her by the arms.
"You will regret this, Julian!
Everything in this house is mine!"
But Julian didn't look at her.
He was looking at Leo.
His son was shaking.
There was a bruise forming on Leo's left arm where he had caught himself on the staircase railing.
Julian's jaw tightened.
"Leo.
Tell me exactly what happened."
Leo swallowed hard.
"She came into my room this morning, Dad.
She said you had signed new documents transferring the estate into her name.
She told me I had no legal claim to anything anymore.
When I tried to call you, she grabbed the papers from my desk and told me to get out."
Maya stepped forward quietly.
"Sir, I watched her take the documents from Master Leo's room with my own hands.
She didn't know I was standing in the hallway."
Eleanor twisted against the officers' grip.
"She is a servant!
Why would you believe her over your own wife?"
Julian turned slowly.
His voice was very low.
"Because my son has a bruise on his arm.
And you are holding papers that were locked in his room."
Eleanor went still.
Then, from inside her jacket, a second document slipped and fell to the floor.
Julian picked it up.
His face changed completely.
"Where did you get this?"
