I gripped the phone so hard my knuckles went white.
"Jamie, what happened?
Tell me everything."
She took a breath.
"Okay.
So you know that girl he left you for — Kayla?
Turns out she wasn't just his coworker.
She'd been seeing him the entire time you were pregnant.
Both times."
The room tilted.
"Both times," I repeated.
"There's more." Jamie's voice dropped.
"Kayla is pregnant.
And Ethan — he's panicking.
Because she just told HR that he pr0mised to leave his wife for her two years ago.
In writing.
There are texts, screenshots, the whole thing.
HR is involved now and his boss called him in this morning."
I couldn't speak.
"But that's not even the worst part," Jamie said.
"His mom called the office looking for him.
Apparently Ethan told her the mortgage money came from a bonus he earned.
She had no idea about the surrogacies.
No idea what you went through."
My hands started shaking.
All those months.
All that p@in.
And he'd been lying to everyone — his boss, his mother, me.
"She wants to talk to you," Jamie said quietly.
"His mom.
She called me asking for your number.
She sounded…
she sounded like she already knew she'd done something wrong."
I didn't know what to say.
I didn't know if I was ready for that conversation.
But before I could answer, my phone buzzed with an incoming call.
