Two crew members jumped in without hesitation.
They lifted Ellie out first.
She was shaking so hard she couldn't speak.
Mr.
Vale — Marcus Vale — crossed the dock in four strides and wrapped his coat around her before she even reached the top of the ladder.
"I've got you," he said quietly.
"I've got you both."
My mother hadn't moved.
But her face had changed.
The smile was completely gone.
Marcus looked at her for the first time.
No anger.
No shouting.
Just a long, steady look that made her step backward.
"You put your granddaughter in the water," he said.
"In front of witnesses."
"We didn't know—" my father started.
"You didn't know what?" Marcus turned to him.
"That she was married to me?
Or that you were being recorded?"
The attorney behind him held up a phone.
The entire deck had been captured.
Every second of it.
Lillian grabbed Daniel's arm.
"Did you know about this?
Who IS he?"
Daniel's mouth opened.
Nothing came out.
A guest near the back said the name first — quietly, like he was afraid to say it too loud.
Marcus Vale.
Vale Global.
The company Daniel had been trying to secure a contract with for two years.
The contract worth more than everything on this yacht combined.
Daniel turned to my father.
His voice dropped to almost nothing.
"What did you do?"
