Chapter 2: Things He Never Told You

Part 2 ⬇️
Everyone turned to look at me.
Harold spun around, his face unreadable — not confused, not concerned.
Just…
frozen.
Behind his ear was a small tattoo.
Tiny.
Easy to miss unless the light hit it just right.
A little anchor.
With the letter M underneath it.
My legs went weak.
Mike had that exact tattoo.
He got it the year we married.
He told me it was private — something just for us.
He said he'd never shown it to anyone.
"Harold," I whispered.
"Where did you get that?"
He didn't answer.
"Harold.
That was Mike's tattoo.
His design.
He drew it himself.
How do YOU have it?"
The people around us had gone quiet.
Harold looked at Mia, then back at me.
Something shifted in his eyes — not guilt exactly.
Something older than guilt.
"We should talk privately," he said.
"No." My voice came out harder than I expected.
"Tell me right now."
He exhaled slowly.
"There are things about Mike," he said, "that he never told you."
My heart stopped.
Mia tugged my hand and looked up at me.
"Mommy, why is Daddy's mark on Harold?"
Nobody moved.

What Harold said next made my whole world collapse.
