Chapter 2: The Word That Broke a Billionaire

— PART 2 —
Victor didn't move.
For a man who controlled billion-dollar decisions without blinking, he stood completely still.
Noah reached up and touched his hand.
Victor pulled back — not roughly, but enough.
His jaw tightened.
He turned to me.
"How long has this been going on?"
"Seven months," I said quietly.
"You're thirteen years old." His voice dropped.
"Who put you in charge of six children?"
"Elena did.
Before she passed."
Something shifted in his face when I said her name.
One of the security guards stepped forward.
"Sir, we should contact child services—"
"Don't." Victor's voice was sharp.
The guard stopped.
Victor crouched down to Noah's level.
The little boy hadn't moved.
He was still watching Victor with those wide, patient eyes.
"What's your name?" Victor asked.
"Noah," the boy whispered.
"Elena said I looked like my daddy.
She showed me a picture."
Victor stood slowly.
His hands were shaking.
Daniel stepped in front of the younger children.
"Are you going to take us away?"
Nobody answered.
Then Victor reached into his jacket and pulled out his phone.
He stared at the screen for a long moment — at a photo I couldn't see — and went completely pale.
He looked at me.
"Elena never told me she had a son."
The room went silent.
