The stepmother wanted to fire the maid, but the little girl told her father the whole truth and said that only the maid took care of her, and what the father did to his wife is very funny,

The Little Girl’s Truth
In a large, elegant house, the silence of the afternoon was suddenly broken by a cold, angry voice.
The luxurious living room looked perfect: expensive furniture, light curtains, a crystal chandelier, and fresh flowers on the table. But in the middle of all that beauty, the air felt heavy and tense.
Three people stood in the center of the room.
A well-dressed man had just returned from work and was watching the scene in confusion. Beside him stood his wife, a sharply dressed woman with a hard look in her eyes. In front of them stood the maid, frozen in place, her eyes full of tears. She was wearing a clean white apron, but her hands were trembling.
The wife pointed at the maid and said in a harsh voice:
— I’m firing you right now. I don’t want to see you in this house again.
The maid lowered her eyes. She tried to speak, but her voice broke.
— Madam, please… I didn’t do anything.
The woman laughed coldly.
— You didn’t do anything? Since you came here, this house has changed. You act as if you are irreplaceable. But remember one thing: I make the decisions here.
The man looked at his wife, then at the maid.
— What is going on? Why do you want to fire her so suddenly?
His wife turned to him, irritated.
— Because I don’t like her attitude. She talks back, she stays too close to the little girl, and she thinks she can do whatever she wants in my house.
The maid finally raised her eyes. They were filled with tears, but also with pain.
— I only took care of the child, sir. Nothing else.
At those words, the wife’s face changed. Her anger became even stronger.
— You see? She admits it herself. She interferes in things that are none of her business.
The husband remained silent. Something did not feel right. The maid had worked in the house for months. She had always been respectful, quiet, and punctual. She had never caused trouble. And most importantly, his daughter seemed calmer whenever the maid was around.
The little girl had lost her mother years earlier. When the man remarried, he had hoped his new wife would bring warmth back into their family. But lately, his daughter had become quieter. She spoke less, smiled rarely, and often hid in her room when he came home late from work.
He had thought it was just a difficult phase. But now, seeing the maid’s tears and his wife’s excessive anger, he began to doubt.
— I can’t fire her without a serious reason, he said calmly.
His wife pressed her lips together.
— So now you’re protecting her? In front of your own wife?
— I’m only trying to understand the truth.
The woman stepped forward.
— The truth is simple. I don’t want her here anymore.
At that moment, a small voice came from the entrance of the living room.
— Dad…
Everyone turned around.
A little girl stood in the doorway. Her face was sad, her eyes were wet, and she was holding a small stuffed toy tightly against her chest. She was the man’s daughter. She had been hiding in the hallway long enough to hear the whole argument.
The father bent slightly toward her.
— Sweetheart, what are you doing here?
The little girl slowly entered the room. Every step seemed heavy. She looked first at her stepmother, then at the maid, and finally at her father.
— Dad… your wife doesn’t take care of me when you are at work.
The sentence fell into the room like a shock.
The father froze.
— What did you just say?
The wife immediately turned to the little girl with a forced smile.
— Sweetheart, don’t say silly things. You’re just tired.
But the little girl stepped back and moved closer to her father.
— I’m not tired. It’s true.
The man’s face changed. His voice became lower.
— Tell me.
The little girl looked at the maid with eyes full of gratitude. Then she pointed at her.
— She is the one who takes care of me.
The maid covered her mouth with one hand, trying to hold back her tears.
The little girl continued:
— When you go to work, she makes food for me. She helps me with my homework. She stays with me when I’m scared. She reads stories to me before bed, even when she doesn’t have to. When I feel sick, she is the one who comes to my room.
The father felt a tight knot in his throat.
— And your stepmother?
The little girl looked down.
The wife interrupted at once:
— Enough. She’s a child. She exaggerates everything.
But the father was no longer looking at his wife. His eyes were fixed on his daughter.
— Sweetheart, you can tell me the truth. You don’t have to be afraid.
The little girl hugged her stuffed toy tighter.
— She tells me not to bother her. She says I’m spoiled. Sometimes she sends me to my room even when I’m hungry. And when I ask to call you, she says you’re too busy for me.
The silence became unbearable.
The wife turned pale.
— That is not true, she said nervously. She is making it all up for attention.
The maid, with tears in her eyes, spoke softly:
— Sir, I didn’t want to cause trouble. I only tried to protect the child. I couldn’t leave her alone.
The man slowly turned to his wife.
— Why didn’t you ever tell me?
The woman crossed her arms.
— Because there was nothing to tell. Your daughter needs discipline. You spoil her too much.
At those words, the little girl hid behind her father.
That single movement said more than any explanation.
The man looked at the maid. He saw her pain, her fear, but also her honesty. Then he looked at his daughter. For the first time in a long while, he understood how lonely she had been.
— How long has this been going on? he asked.
The little girl did not answer immediately. Then she whispered:
— Since you started coming home late.
The father closed his eyes for a moment. He felt the weight of guilt. He had worked so hard to give his daughter a comfortable life, but he had failed to see that, inside that luxurious house, she felt abandoned.
His wife tried to regain control.
— You can’t believe a child and a maid over your own wife.
The man opened his eyes and looked at her coldly.
— I’m not choosing against my wife. I’m listening to my daughter.
The woman fell silent.
The father bent down and took his daughter’s hand.
— Why didn’t you tell me sooner?
The little girl looked at her stepmother with fear.
— Because she said that if I talked, you would send me to boarding school.
The maid burst into tears.
— Sir, I heard her say it. I didn’t know what to do. I was afraid of losing my job, but I was more afraid for the little girl.
The man slowly stood up. There was no more confusion in his eyes. There was a decision.
He turned to the maid.
— You are not leaving.
Then he looked at his wife.
— But you will have to explain a lot of things.
The wife took a step back.
— You’re making a mistake.
The man shook his head.
— I already made one. I left my daughter in the wrong hands and didn’t see what was happening right in front of me.
The little girl held her father’s hand tighter.
For a moment, no one spoke.
Then the father noticed something. The maid looked as if she wanted to say more, but she was hesitating. Her eyes were lowered, and her hands were clenched around her white apron.
— Is there something else? he asked.
The maid trembled.
The wife immediately looked at her with threatening eyes.
— Don’t you dare.
The husband slowly turned to his wife.
— What exactly should she not dare to say?
The maid took a deep breath. Then she looked at the little girl, as if searching for courage.
— Sir… last night, I saw your wife preparing a small suitcase in the guest room.
The wife went pale.
— She’s lying.
The maid continued:
— Inside it were the little girl’s clothes. And some documents.
The father felt his blood run cold.
— What documents?
The little girl looked up at him and whispered:
— Dad… she told me that tomorrow she was going to take me away from here.
The room froze.
The husband looked at his wife. This time, there was not only anger on his face. There was fear. Real, uncontrollable fear.
The man stepped toward her.
— Where were you planning to take my daughter?
The wife did not answer.
The maid slowly pointed toward the hallway.
— The suitcase is still in the guest room.
The father let go of his daughter’s hand for only a second and turned toward the hallway.
The wife suddenly said:
— Wait. I can explain.
The man stopped.
The little girl quickly took his hand again.
The maid lowered her eyes.
The father looked at his wife and said in a cold voice:
— Then explain it now.
The woman opened her mouth, but no words came out.
Silence filled the room.
And at that moment, from upstairs, they heard a soft noise — like a door closing.
Everyone looked up.
The father realized that someone else was still in the house.
The maid whispered:
— Sir… maybe she wasn’t alone.
The wife’s face changed completely.
The little girl hid behind her father.
The man looked at the stairs, then back at his wife.

The truth was not over yet.
It had only just begun.
